Tom Connolly is Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of 5C Investment Partners, LP (“5C”), a credit-centric alternative investment firm. Prior to founding 5C, Tom spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as Global Head of Private Credit in the Merchant Banking Division, where he served for 14 years until his departure in 2022. During his 25 years at Goldman Sachs, Tom held leadership positions in several of the firm’s credit businesses and played an instrumental role in the foundation and growth of its private credit business. Earlier in his career, Tom oversaw the European High Yield Bond business from London and the Global Leveraged Finance business from New York, and was elected Partner in 2004. In 2008, Tom joined the Merchant Banking Division as Founder of the Senior Direct Lending business. From 2008 to 2022, Tom continued to lead the Merchant Banking Division’s private credit business across all strategies. During his career, Tom served on the Firmwide Capital Committee, Firmwide Risk Committee, Partnership Committee and Merchant Banking Division Investment Committee. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 1996, Tom worked at Bankers Trust in the Middle Market Lending Group, Media Lending Group and High Yield Bond Department. Tom is a member of the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, Union College, where he graduated with a degree in Economics in 1989 and serves as a National Board member for Jumpstart, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on early childhood education.
