Judith Schickedanz is a professor emerita of education at Boston University. During her tenure there, she coordinated the early childhood program, directed the laboratory preschool, taught courses on preschool pedagogy, early literacy, and child development; and helped launch Jumpstart on campus. Her books include Inside PreK classrooms: A school leader’s guide to effective instruction; Much More Than the ABCs; Increasing the Power of Instruction: Integration of Language, Literacy and Math across the Preschool Day; Writing in Preschool: Orchestrating Meaning and Marks; and Understanding Children and Adolescents. She is the lead author of Opening the World of Learning (2005), a preschool curriculum, which she helped to adapt for use by Jumpstart. She currently consults with a variety of preschool programs and continues to write about preschool curriculum, instruction, and learning.
