Chief Development Officer
Gary Jimenez, Chief Development Officer, joined Jumpstart in 2009 with extensive experience in the non-profit sector. With over 25 years of experience, he has worked for several of the nation’s most highly regarded institutions where he held various leadership and senior level fundraising positions. Gary thrives on entrepreneurial environments. Throughout his career he has worked with a variety of national organizations where he’s been tasked with opening offices and hiring teams, ensuring high-quality programming, building brand awareness, and developing adequate funding to sustain operations. Prior to joining Jumpstart, Gary served as Regional Vice President for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF). There, he opened and grew the Southwest regional office located in Los Angeles, California, from 2006-2009. In that time, Gary launched an alumni initiative to reconnect and engage alumni as well as a major gift and annual fund program, generating $2,000,000 annually after just three years. Prior to HSF, Gary spent nearly a decade raising major gifts for higher education. He served as the Director of Development at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business where he managed three fundraising volunteer boards and helped to brand and manage the School’s premier giving group, the Marshall Associates. While at Claremont Graduate University, he led a team to successfully launch and complete a $40 million capital campaign in just four years, which including the rebranding of the Drucker School of Management. During the mid 1990’s, Gary was involved with local and national educational organizations focusing on youth, including Braille Institute of America, Inc., Community for Education Foundation, and The Fulfillment Fund. He also served as a volunteer coach for Students Run LA, an organization dedicated to empowering inner city students though the discipline required to train and run 26.2 miles. Over the course of four years, he trained and mentored teams of inner city high school students to run the Los Angeles marathon. Gary is an avid runner himself and has completed five marathons. A native of Southern California, Gary grew up in San Bernardino and currently resides in Los Angeles. He earned his BA in Psychology from the University of Southern California and holds a Master of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University’s Drucker School of Management where he emphasized strategy, leadership, and management. Since 1997, he has been a member of the Rotary Club of Los Angeles which is one of the largest Rotary Clubs in the world. He has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Sergeant-at-Arms and Chairman of the organization’s Membership Development Committee, among many others.
