Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience and celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. The event– a day of celebration and fun– builds an intergenerational community through reading and raises awareness around the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive literature that fosters belonging and connection by reflecting children’s own experiences as well as showing the experiences of others.

More than 26 million people have participated in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record and this year, you can join the thousands of schools, libraries, organizations, and communities celebrating early literacy by ordering your copies of With Lots of Love, a beautiful story about family, finding ways to stay connected, and sharing love across distances, today!

Every year, Jumpstart works with early education experts and our publishing partner to create a paperback special edition of the Read for the Record book selection. This special edition copy, available in English and Spanish, includes a reading guide and is designed to help deepen children’s understanding of the book and is exclusively available through Jumpstart.

The themes of familial relationships, food, celebrations, and connecting with loved ones over long distances in With Lots of Love will be sure to inspire and comfort young children and families all year long!

Join us in reading With Lots of Love written by Jenny Torres Sanchez and illustrated by André Ceolin.

With Lots of Love is a story about a girl who has moved to the United States from her home in Central America, away from everything she leaves behind and longs for- especially her Abuela. Rocio does her best to adjust to a new way of living, but there are many things she misses from her old life – Abuela’s cooking, Abuela’s piñata creations, Abuela’s warm hugs, and of course, Abuela herself most of all. But Abuela finds a way to send Rocio something special just in time for her birthday – a gift wrapped with lots of love – and that fills Rocio to the brim.

“We believe that reading and literacy is very important, and our students want to develop a love for reading,” said Catherine Diezi, Shelby Oaks Elementary Principal. “To see the experience of our community coming together and joining them and celebrating reading and reading this book with our students. So, for the students to see all of those people coming together to celebrate what they are doing and what they are learning is very significant.”
