Position Overview

The Support Specialist coordinates user support/training, manages hardware deployment, and supports network and server maintenance. Direct interaction and teaching of staff is an important part of this role’s responsibilities. A central part of this role is developing relationships and documentation for technical resources and concerns for each individual site, as well as assisting with managing software updates and backup verification.

The Support Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Technology and is part of a team of 6 general operations and technology staff. This is a 40 hour per week nonexempt position.

Specific Responsibilities

User Support

  • Assist the Senior Manager of Technology in managing requests for support from staff
  • Troubleshoot PC and network issues with remote staff in many settings
  • Offer limited technical support to Corps Members and partner organizations
  • Focus on empowering end users by teaching while troubleshooting

Hardware Deployment

  • Image and install appropriate software on staff computers
  • Track assets and relationships, proactively planning to update users with equity in mind
  • Assist in planning yearly hardware purchase cycle
  • Manage Active Directory registration and help design Group Policy implementation

Site Support Resource Development

  • Make and document relationships with Higher Education and Program Partner technical support staff
  • Maintain documentation on technical resources, limitations, and requirements for partner organization facilities

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Ability to function as a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and understand Javascript and/or PowerShell
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking concepts
  • Strong understanding of Windows domain best practices and functionality
  • Strong data management abilities
  • Experience with staff training and documentation creation
  • Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation with internal and external customers
  • Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities
  • Commitment to Jumpstart’s mission and values of connection, determination, learning, joy and kindness

Preferred or Ideal

  • Experience with staff training and documentation creation
  • Prior experience/interest in social justice or diversity, equity, and inclusion work

Hourly Pay

Non-exempt position at an hourly pay of $22.60 – $25 per hour (commensurate with experience) for a 40 hour work week, along with excellent benefits and a great mission-driven work environment
