Jumpstart’s Policy & Advocacy Priorities During COVID-19 Outbreak

For 26 years, Jumpstart has provided high-quality programming to underserved communities, but current Congressional COVID-19 emergency response efforts have fallen short of addressing glaring gaps in support for nonprofits and childcare providers. Many essential organizations are in jeopardy of closing, possibly for good, if these gaps are not addressed soon.

During this time of uncertainty, Jumpstart’s Policy and Government Relations team is asking YOU to make your voices heard and urge Congress to support nonprofits like ours in their COVID-19 emergency response.

Jumpstart’s COVID-19 Response Priorities

Provide a capital investment into the nonprofit and childcare sectors

Increase Federal Work Study (FWS) funding in the 2020-2021 school year

Increase annual Pell award eligibility for the 2020-2021 school year, including summer eligibility

Provide adequate funding for grants to states to ensure equity in remote learning

Allow for flexibilities in CCDBG funding to childcare providers

Raise the non-itemized charitable deduction cap above $600 through 2021 and make the raised cap retroactive for 2019
