Jumpstart Featured in Fortune Magazine

On September 29, 2021, Fortune published an article penned by Jumpstart Vice President of Policy & Government Relations Mark Reilly, entitled “Congress can ensure our children thrive by empowering their educators.” In the piece, Reilly opens with a story about Sarsha Martin, a Jumpstart alumna (and current staff member) who began a career as an early childhood educator, but was dissuaded from continuing in the field by low pay and the pressure of paying off student loan debt. Reilly goes on to highlight key bills in Congress that could help change the landscape for the early childhood education workforce and makes the case for supporting current and future educators:

“We are on the cusp of the most significant federal investment in educating and caring for young children in decades, but lawmakers must support crucial provisions that provide passionate and skilled people like Sarsha with the best chance at a career in early education.”
