What’s Happening with the 116th Congress? Join us for a discussion.

Tuesday, February 5th at 3pm PT/6pm ET

Remember that mix of excited anticipation and gripping fear you felt on your first day of college? For 100 brand new members of the House of Representatives and Senate, that’s exactly what they experienced when the new Congress convened on January 3rd. This newly-elected class is the most racially diverse and most predominantly female group of representatives ever elected to Congress; including the first Muslim congresswomen and the first Native-American congresswomen.

Now that we know who they are, will they have the capabilities to navigate the halls of Congress and what will be on their agenda? Are they going to address the high costs of higher education or the need for high-quality early education? Join Jumpstart’s Vice President of Policy & Government Relations Mark Reilly and Senior Manager of Policy & Government Relations (and Jumpstart alum!) Brittany Walsh for this interactive webinar to learn what we are anticipating from the 116th Congress!

This webinar is a teacher pathway 101!

This webinar will be presented by The Coalition for Diverse Educators (C4DE), a network of leaders from school districts, charter networks, nonprofits and community-based organizations dedicated to increasing, empowering, and developing a strong pipeline of future educators of color in urban education. Beyond the First Six Seconds — Workshop

Thursday, March 7th at 5pm PT/8pm ET
Wednesday, April 3rd at 6pm PT/9pm ET

Six seconds is the average amount of time a recruiter spends reviewing an applicant’s résumé — eliminating 75% of applicants on this first step. The “Beyond the Six Seconds” webinar provides Corps members and alumni with a breakdown of basic do’s and don’ts, as well as an opportunity to review and critique their own résumé drafts. More importantly, this hour and a half webinar focuses on the importance of grit, cultural capital, and honing unique lived experiences, and is especially pertinent for students of color and first-generation students.
