In November, Jumpstart in Los Angeles held a work party for employees at true[X], a national engagement advertising company. Twenty-five true[X] employees spent the afternoon making materials for the children we serve in Southern California. In all, the volunteers made 200 story booklets, handmade “books” where children can write their own stories, and 175 bookmarks. The company also made a $500 donation to Jumpstart.
“Work parties are a fun way for corporations to engage with Jumpstart, and the volunteers lend an important hand creating the quantity of classroom materials that we wouldn’t be able to produce on our own,” says Jephte Acosta, Community Engagement Coordinator.
The story booklets and bookmarks were put to good use and given to children who attended last weekend’s Holiday Outreach and Resource Fair.
