May 22, 2018 (MESA, ARIZONA) — Univision recently featured Jumpstart alumna, Nancy Macias, in their Nuestros Maestros series, highlighting Hispanic educators marking a difference in their communities. Nancy is a preschool teacher at Kidz World Child Care & Learning Center in Mesa, Arizona, and recently completed the Jumpstart Workforce Pathways program — a program designed to address the need for more support and professional development for early educators in Arizona.
The majority of children in Nancy’s classroom come from low-income households and more than a third of them are dual-language learners. In order to meet the needs of her students, Nancy teaches her class in both English and Spanish.
“For children who are in early education programs, success is largely determined by the knowledge and skills of their teachers and by the quality of their interactions with these educators. Nancy’s willingness to learn and grow is a great benefit for the children of Kidz World.”
