In this article originally posted in Early Childhood Education Journal, there is an important discussion about the commitment it takes to be an advocate in the early education space: to speak up even when it’s difficult and to understand that your efforts as an advocate are not in vain. As an alumni of Jumpstart, you likely understand first-hand the challenges faced by advocates, families, and communities to have their needs understood and met. This article is a great resource for those interested in becoming an advocate, and/or amping up your existing advocacy efforts. By giving a voice to those who might otherwise not be heard, you are making a difference.
“Although some advocacy efforts are more successful than others, it is the process of the advocacy and voices behind it that matter most.”
