NEW YORK (November 14, 2017) — Jumpstart hosted the 4th Annual Fall Luncheon at NYC’s famous 21 Club, featuring authors Judy Batalion, Helen Simonson, Jenny Rosenstrach, and Laurie Lico Albanese. Reena Ninan of CBS joined our authors as the Writers Panel Moderator, and shared lively stories of writing, learning, and inspiration to an enthusiastic, and joy-filled audience.
In addition to hearing from our esteemed authors, we also heard from others about their experiences with Jumpstart. Host Committee co-Chairs Jennifer Marrus and Milena Alberti spoke about their involvement with Jumpstart. Milena, CFO of Penguin Random House and Jumpstart board member, also shared her experience visiting a Jumpstart preschool classroom and her surprise at the differences that became apparent while being only 15 blocks from her children’s preschool. Jumpstart CEO Naila Bolus explained what it means to offer children “mirrors and windows.” Mirrors that let them see themselves reflected in the books they read, and windows that help them see and learn about the world.
Thanks to the generosity of our guests and supporters, over $120,000 (and counting!) was raised to support Jumpstart’s work. Your gift to Jumpstart helps bring high-quality early education and literacy programs to children living in under-resourced communities.
