Thank You for Your Support of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Wrap Party 2017

LOS ANGELES (November 8, 2017) — Jumpstart hosted our first Wrap Party at the Mr. C Beverly Hills to celebrate the culmination of our annual Read for the Record campaign. The evening featured heartfelt stories shared by Jumpstart Corps member Flor Romero and Quackers author Liz Wong. At the core of it all was a celebration of the power of reading and a passion for the work Jumpstart does to ensure all children receive a high-quality early education. Flor’s speech was a powerful reminder of why this work is so important, as she talked about why she felt compelled to serve.

There are no words to express how grateful I am to have been able to serve at this organization for the past four years. Aside from teaching me how to be a leader, Jumpstart also allowed me to help all of the children just like me, that were going through the same experiences I had gone through. I got to see first-hand how much these children, who were already falling behind simply because of where they came from, and already at a disadvantage compared to those from more affluent backgrounds. No matter if I lost a few hours of sleep or had to wake up before sunrise to catch a bus to my preschool site, I went to work proudly and happily. I knew that with every session I prepped for, and everyday I spent in the classroom, I was helping these kids get ahead and that was something that could not be replaced.

Thanks to donors like you, Jumpstart has given Flor an avenue to inspire children, and given them the opportunity to dream. Your gift to Jumpstart helps bring high-quality early education and literacy programs to more than 2,300 children in Southern California. Thank you for being a friend to Jumpstart!
