Northern California YPB Kicks off Summer with SFUp

SAN FRANCISCO (July 17, 2017) — Jumpstart’s Northern California Young Professionals Board has been making the most of their summer! On June 28, they co-hosted and guest bartended a special happy hour with SFUp, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s YPB to benefit Jumpstart. A big thank you to The Brick Yard for hosting the event and to all attendees for their generosity! All tips and proceeds from the evening’s specialty drinks supported Jumpstart’s early education programming in the Bay Area.

Both YPB groups then teamed up again to co-host a “Literacy Kit Social” on July 6. Young professionals from the Bay Area were invited to the Chamber of Commerce to help 14 volunteers from SFUp and Jumpstart’s YPB package 500 “Welcome to Jumpstart Literacy Kits.” Each Kit contains a new book from Jumpstart’s Family or Friends Unit, a bookmark describing both units with additional book recommendations and reading tips, and an ABC Scavenger Hunt Activity that encourages the development of alphabet knowledge within families’ daily routines. The kits will be distributed to Jumpstart children when sessions begin again in the fall.

Thank you to our friends at SFUp for being wonderful co-hosts at both events! We’re looking forward to our next young professionals meet-up together.
