SAN FRANCISCO (April 30, 2017) — Jumpstart was excited to partner with local literacy and arts organizations to celebrate the San Francisco Public Library’s annual Dia de Los Niños on Sunday, April 30th at Parque Niños Unidos in the Mission District. This event was launched in 1999 to promote early literacy and provide families with resources for learning. Since 1999, Dia de Los Niños has distributed over 20,000 multilingual books to the Bay Area.
This year, Jumpstart Corps members from San Francisco State and UC Berkeley led coloring, writing, and reading activities and helped to distribute over 1,000 books provided by the San Francisco Public Library. Families enjoyed entertaining activities, such as music, dancing, photo booths, and got to bring home books! The event was also featured in BARTable.
