Service in Action: Jumpstart at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. (March 26, 2017) — Jumpstart was recently profiled on radio program Service in Action on KFSR 90.7FM, which highlights local programs and community partners in the Fresno State community. The show featured Neil Dion, Jumpstart Site Manager at Fresno State; Leslie Sparks, from Fresno Head Start; and Marlynn Mijangos, Jumpstart Team Leader.

Now in its ninth year, Jumpstart Fresno has a dedicated team of student volunteers from Fresno State, reflecting the vast diversity of California’s Central Valley.  These Corps Members come from an assortment of majors, including Liberal Studies, Psychology, and Marketing, among many others.  Our Corps of tutors work with our program partners at Joyce M. Huggins Center at Fresno State and Head Start.  Our partnerships with these programs allow us to have an even greater impact on the Fresno community and our efforts to work toward the day that every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
