Rebecca began her college career at Wheelock College in Boston where she majored in Early Childhood Education with a focus in Humanities. Even as a freshman, Rebecca knew that she wanted to become a teacher and had a clear career path in mind.
When she heard about Jumpstart through a friend at Wheelock, Rebecca was immediately intrigued. After her first day in the classroom, Rebecca was hooked. “I fell in love with working with children from low-income communities. I am from Vermont where there is very little diversity, and I love learning about people, cultures, and community.” Rebecca spent her next four years (2000-2004) as a Jumpstart Corps member, team leader, and program assistant.
Rebecca continued to follow her passion for teaching and is now the Education Supervisor at Jamaica Plain Head Start in Boston, the same site where she served as a Corps member.
