Global diversified media company makes a multi-year commitment to support Jumpstart
BOSTON, MA (JUNE 3, 2015) – Jumpstart, a national early education organization, announced today that News Corp, a global, diversified media and information services company, will partner with Jumpstart to expand its programs and impact. Through this partnership, Jumpstart will be able to provide additional training and instruction for its volunteers, known as Corps members, and the preschool-age children that Jumpstart serves in under-resourced communities across the country. By participating in Jumpstart’s year-long program, children develop the language, literacy, and social-emotional skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success.
News Corp operates an international network of businesses across a diverse range of media, including news, digital, education, book publishing, digital real estate, and information services. In addition to supporting Jumpstart as it expands and deepens its impact across the country — specifically in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Jersey — News Corp’s multi-year commitment to the organization’s programs will provide thousands of hours of language and literacy instruction for hundreds of young children as well as thousands of hours of training and preparation for college students.
News Corp’s philanthropic goals encompass Jumpstart’s vision for every child in America to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed. “As a 2015 News Corp Philanthropy Partner, Jumpstart is improving lives of children and families, giving hope to those most in need,” said Keisha Smith-Jeremie, Chief Human Resources Officer of News Corp. “We are honored to work with Jumpstart on this most worthy cause.”
Through its philanthropic initiatives, News Corp has provided support to a number of nonprofit organizations and programs dedicated to innovative approaches to learning, digital literacy, and programs and services for children in under-resourced communities.
“Jumpstart is proud to stand among the high-quality organizations and programs that News Corp supports. Our partnership with News Corp will have a lasting impact on the children that Jumpstart serves and bring much needed attention to providing quality early learning experiences for all children. Through this multi-year commitment, Jumpstart will be able to expand our reach and impact, while working toward the day that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed,” stated Jumpstart President and CEO, Naila Bolus.
