Jumpstart Welcomes Lorie Almon and Kim Jasmin to its National Board of Directors

BOSTON, MA, July 10, 2013Jumpstart, a national early childhood education organization, announced today the appointment of Lorie Almon and Kim Jasmin to its board of directors. Almon and Jasmin will join a team of business leaders, philanthropists, and academics including Chris Stadler, Jumpstart board chairman and Managing Director of CVC Capital Partners, as it leads the organization in preparing preschool-aged children from low-income communities to enter kindergarten with the skills necessary for success.

Lorie Almon is a class action employment litigator who has been recognized by her peers as a leader in her field. Earlier this year, she was recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Legal 500 as a leading lawyer for Labor and Employment. Ms. Almon was recognized in 2011 by The American Lawyer as one of the top “45 Under 45” women lawyers in The Am Law 200, and was named to the NACD Directorship’s “Directorship 100” list of “the most influential directors, officers, professionals and institutions” in corporate America. In recent years, she has also been named one of the nation’s “Fab Fifty” litigators under the age of 45 by The American Lawyer, selected as one of the top “40 Under 40” lawyers in the United States by the National Law Journal and picked as one of the “500 Leading Litigators in America” by Lawdragon. Ms. Almon serves as Co-Managing Partner of Seyfarth Shaw's New York office and also is vice chair of their National Wage & Hour Litigation Practice Group. Lorie also received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Dedication to Public Service Work when she graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Previously, Ms. Almon chaired the Tri-State Local Advisory Board of Jumpstart and was awarded Seyfarth Shaw's “Inspirational Leadership Award” in recognition of her commitment to the organization.

Kim Jasmin is the Northeast Region Executive for the JPMorgan Chase Foundation and manages its social investment portfolio from Boston to DC. In her 19 years with the firm, Ms. Jasmin has held a number of leadership positions in Human Resources, specializing in Learning and Development, Diversity, Talent Acquisition and Leadership Development. She has a unique blend of experience in sales, general management, consulting, organization development and talent management gained during her tenure at Xerox Corporation and now in JPMorgan Chase.

An emerging champion for early childhood education, Ms. Jasmin was recently featured in Winning Beginning NY’s “It’s Our Business” and “What is Quality StarsNY” videos to help make the case for businesses to invest in early childhood education. She is a graduate of Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies.
