BOSTON, MA, July 20, 2012 – Jumpstart, a national early education non-profit organization, announced today the appointment of Susan Werley Slater as the organization’s new Chief Program Officer. For the past ten years, Susan has worked in the education field designing and implementing innovative program models. In addition to her most recent role as the Executive Director of Jumpstart’s Northeast Region, Susan has served as a site manager and senior program director at Jumpstart. Through her tenure, Susan has built Jumpstart’s profile in Massachusetts as one of the top organizations serving young children.
Susan will work closely with Jumpstart’s newly formed National Early Education Council and national board members to further Jumpstart’s program and research and evaluation efforts. She is a graduate of McDaniel College where she completed an industrial efficiency study of a pre-service teaching and educational partnerships between McDaniel College and the surrounding county public schools. Susan was a member of the 2007 Schott Fellowship in Early Care and Education, a one-year public policy leadership program designed to create the next generation of early care and education policy leaders in Massachusetts. During this fellowship, Susan published a paper on the state of Early Education and Care Assessment in Massachusetts. She continues to pursue multiple policy issues throughout the Commonwealth. In 2011, Susan received Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award.
