Jumpstart in the Southeast

Atlanta

Currently, Jumpstart partners 230 Corps members with 550 Atlanta preschool children living in low-income neighborhoods in and around the city. Together, for the entire 2010-2011 school year, they will work on the language and literacy skills these children need to succeed not only in school, but also in life. Executive Director Bio

Tamzen Pickard, Executive Director has worked in non-profit administration for over 25 years, including program and business development, community relations and communications, resource development, and strategic planning.  Prior to joining the non-profit world, Tamzen taught middle and high school English in Seattle, Washington and Tucson, Arizona.  Her experience in the classroom cemented her belief that quality early learning experiences lead to later academic success. Tamzen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington.
