Programs

Jumpstart leads San Francisco’s Early Literacy Initiative (ELI), funded by the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and their Families (DCYF) and First 5 San Francisco. Through ELI, Jumpstart serves every eligible preschool classroom in the Bayview and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods of San Francisco. In addition, Jumpstart delivers enhanced community and family engagement in our target communities through community events and our Family Workshop Series.

Family Workshop Series: Jumpstart hosts Family Workshop Series at our partner preschools and family resource centers. These eight week workshops are designed to educate caregivers about their child’s early literacy development and support them in preparing their children for success in school.

Community Events: Jumpstart hosts and provides language and literacy activities at community events throughout the city, including Jumpstart’s Read for the Record events in October and Jumpstart for a Day in April. Through these events, Jumpstart is able to reach children and their families that we are not able to serve through our Direct Service Model in traditional and non-traditional preschool settings.
