Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc. is a national non-profit organization committed to ensuring that every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Jumpstart believes that when an individual provides one-to-one attention to a child, they spark a life. Jstart.org is the online address for families and their children, early education programs, civic minded citizens and corporations, college students, and the media to find out more about our organization, our practices, and our results.

Jumpstart is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information we obtain and use on our www.jstart.org public Internet web site (the “Site”) and in our electronic mail communications. This Internet Privacy Policy describes our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing electronic personally identifiable information.

We urge children to check with their families before entering any information on any Web site, and we urge families to do more with their children, even browsing the Web.

What Information is Collected?
At Jstart.org, our policy is to create Web site content that requires minimum collection of personal information from our visitors. In general, the children that visit Jstart.org cannot navigate the Web site without the accompaniment of an adult to read and explain the Web site's content. It is our policy, therefore, to refrain from knowingly collecting information from children under the age of 16 without the explicit written consent of a parent or guardian. We may also collect from parents additional types of information (e.g., credit card and billing information) when they purchase products and offerings at our site.

Jstart.org will not collect personally identifiable information about you -- your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, or payment and billing information -- unless you provide it to us voluntarily. For any personally identifiable information we collect from you online, you may: opt out of having your information used for any reason other than follow-up correspondence from us in response to your request, or restrict how this information is being used by indicating your preferences on the form we use to collect information or by e-mail. Jstart.org uses the collected information to improve our content, notify Jstart.org visitors of Web updates, and validate visitors' Jstart.org affiliation to allow them to access select Jstart.org resources.

Jstart.org does not share this information with other organizations for commercial purposes. Please be aware, however, that Web sites linked to our site may collect information about you when you arrive on their sites. The information practices of those Web sites linked to the Jstart.org site are not covered by this Privacy Policy.

Privacy of Our E-mail List:
Jstart.org maintains an e-mail list to keep subscribed members informed about: developments in the communities we serve, featured projects, special reports from the field, and project updates. Individuals may subscribe to our free e-mail alerts through www.jstart.org. A subscribed member can unsubscribe at any time by emailing webmaster@jstart.org. Additionally, each e-mail sent contains an easy, automated way for you to cease receiving e-mail from us. If you wish to do this, simply follow the instructions at the end of any e-mail.

Jstart.org maintains an e-mail list for those who have previously donated and those we have an existing relationship with but have not yet subscribed to our e-mail updates. From time to time, we may send an e-mail update to those on this list. A carefully selected third party service provider may be used to send our e-mails on our behalf, but our service providers are authorized to use your e-mail address only to deliver Jumpstart e-mail updates.

Disclosures of Personally Identifiable Information:
We may share personally identifiable with our affiliates, service providers, and joint marketing partners for the purposes for which you provided the information or as reasonably needed for our internal administrative and business purposes. Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, we will obtain your permission before disclosing personally identifiable information to third parties for other purposes.

We reserve the right to disclose personally identifiable information as may be required by law; to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or other legal process; if we determine that such disclosure is necessary to assert or protect our legal rights or property, or to protect the legal rights or property of others; to prevent harm to any person; or in connection with an actual or proposed merger or other transaction or proceeding involving a transfer of all or part of the programs or assets to which the information pertains.

Security:
Jstart.org has taken steps to ensure that personally identifiable information is secure, including limiting the number of people who have physical access to our database servers as well as electronic security systems and password protections which guard against unauthorized access.

Accessing and Updating Information:
It is important to us to maintain accurate and up-to-date information. You may ask to review, amend (or delete) electronically personally identifiable information that we maintain about you. To submit a request to access or amend your information, please send an email to webmaster@jstart.org. Please note that we may be unable to delete personal information that is maintained only in data storage archives.

Cookies and Log Data:
Cookies are information files that your Web browser places on the hard drive of your computer when you visit a Web site. Cookies cannot damage user files, nor can they read information from a user's hard drive. Cookies allow Web sites to "remember" users' activities on a Web site as well as users' visits to a site. At Jstart.org, cookies are used to determine the number of unique visitors to our Site over a given period and to remember user screen names so that the need for multiple logins is eliminated. We do not store any personal information in cookies, nor do we link or combine information collected through cookies to any personal information that visitors submit online when participating in our activities. You can, of course, disable cookies on your computer by indicating this in the preferences or options menus in your browser. Log data collected on Web servers within Jstart.org's control supplies Jstart.org with aggregate information about the number of visits to different pages on our site. Jstart.org uses such aggregate information to improve access to our content based on our visitors' browsers and operating system types to make our content available to as many people as possible.

Changes to this policy:
We reserve the right to modify this Terms of Use policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected in this notice. If the changes materially affect our uses or disclosures of personally identifiable information that we have previously collected, we will notify you here, by email, or by posting a notice on the Site.
