A celebration of the power of the written word.

Jumpstart’s Scribbles to Novels is a unique fundraising event that celebrates the power of written word. Across the country, we unite prominent authors, celebrities and leaders in early childhood education to underscore the importance of literature in children’s lives and reinforce our critical mission—to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.

Highlights from 2013

On May 2, 2013, more than 400 prominent business and community leaders joined Jumpstart for its annual Scribbles to Novels Boston event at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. Guests joined acclaimed authors Peter Abrahams, David Gergen, Michael Holley, Jane O'Connor and Jane Smiley for a celebration of the written word and to support Jumpstart’s commitment to educational equality. The event included a keynote address from Senior Political Analyst for CNN and Director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, David Gergen, an inspiring speech from Jumpstart Corps member Ethan Peritz of Tufts University, as well as an author roundtable discussion lead by National Advisory Board Member, Bill Barke. Jumpstart was pleased to honor Robert Small of Berkshire Partners, a Jumpstart supporter for more than a decade. The evening was a tremendous success thanks to our Host Committee and generous sponsors.
